Joseph O’Neals work creates seams by coupling non-objective imagery with written texts such as dates, names, and various words and phrases. The back and forth between the two elements creates an ambiguous field of opportunities for the viewer to exist. Urgency and chance are ever-present in the works as is the dirt on the road to conclusion.

O’Neal is an internationally collected artist, who has participated in group and solo exhibitions throughout the United States, Europe, and Mexico. These include notable large scale exhibitions in Basel, Switzerland in 2011, 2015, and Zurich in 2018. Joseph’s work has appeared in publications such as The Basler Zeitung, Sensitive Skin Magazine, Art Rated, Still Developing: A Story of Instant Gratification, as well as interview features with Telebasel, and NPR.
