A Grove of Strangefruit

“A Grove of Invisible Fruit” that is based on a common and recurring muse Strangefruit, which is an archetype for myself and represents marginalized bodies. This installation is first featured in 2018 as a final result of my artist-in-residency, solo exhibition “invisible fruit: stories of camouflage from the periphery” at Project for Empty Space’s former space at the Gateway Center, Newark. This sculptural work is site-specific and has had two other iterations at Trestle Gallery, Brooklyn, NY, solo exhibition Allegories of the Invisible, curated by Eileen Jeng Lynch, September 2019; and recently on view in two-person exhibition, I Am Large, I Contain Multitudes: David Rios Ferreira and Shoshanna Weinberger, curated by Suzanne Baron, Mueller Gallery, Caldwell University, Caldwell, NJ, February 2020.
