Bellevue Blossoms

The community based mural project was commissioned by NYC Health + Hospitals Arts in Medicine with the support of Laurie M. Tisch Illumination Fund and The Mayor’s Fund to Advance New York City.

Bellevue Blossoms is a surface mural that wraps around the concrete pathway of Bellevue Hospital lobby’s garden, located on First Avenue in New York City. The work, which covers over 10,000 sqft, depicts flower patterns made with bright colors and uplifting words and renown quotes. The community’s cultural diversity and warmth inspired the mural. The flower patterns were made in an effort to connect to world textiles. An essential and central element of this monumental work is the mandala painted around the garden’s 28 feet fountain. It was created as a spiritual symbol of art healing power.
