Digital Breakdown: Housing Baker

“Digital Breakdown: Housing Baker” references Western European obsession with objectifying the black female body and as an aesthetics of “otherness”. Part of the title “.. Housing Baker” referencing Josephine Baker and her encounters as a siren for white male gaze and conquest. As the artist, I incorporate and deliberately cover up the body using censor blocks, barcodes or zebra stripes to mask and redefine the body in the image.
