In this webinar, you will learn the do’s and don’t of writing one, the importance of artist statements for funding and fellowships, and how to adapt your artist statement for various scenarios, from elevator pitches to conferences.



About the Presenter:
Ceaphas Stubbs graduated from Rutgers University with a BA in Visual Arts in 2011 and went on to earn an MFA from the University of Pennsylvania in 2013. He was the recipient of a Christopher Lyon Memorial Award in 2013, and nominated for the Dedalus Foundation MFA Fellowship in the spring of 2012. Stubbs has completed residencies at Skowhegan School of Painting & Sculpture (2012), Jamaica Center for Arts and Learning (2017), The Creative Capital Professional Development Program (2017), and Express Newark (2017-18). His work has been shown widely, including in exhibitions at FiveMyles Gallery, Brooklyn; Reginald Ingraham Gallery, Culver City; Czong Institute for Contemporary Art Museum, Gimpo-si; Aljira Center for Contemporary Art, Newark; The Print Center, Philadelphia; and The Center for Photography at Woodstock, amongst others. Stubbs’s works have been reviewed in The New York Times, Brooklyn Rail, Skowhegan’s SPACE/LAUNCH, Expose Magazine, and Agave Magazine. Since 2014, Stubbs has taught a range of digital arts, photography, and animation college courses across the East Coast, and is currently an Assistant Professor at Parsons School of Design.
