PROJECT FOR EMPTY SPACE RESIDENCY + PROGRAMS MANAGER

This position will oversee Project for Empty Space core programs, which include the Artist-In-Residence program (8th cycle), Feminist Incubator (6th cycle), the Newark Artist Accelerator (5th Cycle), and Newark Artist Database (Est. 2020).

The Residency + Programs Manager will report directly to the Co-Directors and is part of a team including the Gallery Associate & Junior Designer, the PES FUTURES Associate, the Special Projects Team, and the Development Team.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Management of programs, which include the Artist-In-Residence program, Feminist Incubator, the Newark Artist Accelerator, and Newark Artist Database workshop programming.
  • Working with leadership to implement the curatorial vision for core programs.
  • Developing relationships with program participants and working directly to manage their participation in the program, including milestones and outcomes.
  • Overseeing professional development programs for the Residency Programs and the Newark Artist Database.
  • Outreach to and collaboration with community partners.
  • Coordinating with the Communications Team on exhibitions and programs.

 

POSITION DETAILS

  • This is an in-office position in Newark, NJ, Monday through Friday from 10 – 6 pm, and occasional weekend and evening presence for events.
  • Salary Range: $65,000
  • Full benefits package included (Healthcare, Dental, Vision, and PTO).

 

ELIGIBILITY

  • Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s degree preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience with artists’ services and/or exhibition and project management, preferably in an arts, culture, and/or nonprofit environment.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to efficiently manage several projects simultaneously.
  • Outstanding interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, strong problem-solving capabilities, and proficiency in Google platforms and other standard office procedures.
  • Fully vaccinated with a Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and/or the World Health Organization authorized vaccine (or approved for an exemption as a reasonable accommodation due to a qualified disability or sincerely held religious belief or other legal basis).
